any tips on getting better at blitz??

Blitz improvement is usually less about “thinking faster” and more about simplifying your decision making process. 🙂

A few things that help many players:

• play openings you actually understand instead of memorizing long theory
• stop searching for the perfect move every turn
• focus on identifying 2-3 candidate moves quickly
• improve pattern recognition through tactics
• avoid spending 2 minutes on one move and then flagging later 😄
• and after games, analyze the moments where the position became confusing, not only the blunders

Also, many players try to play blitz before they can consistently understand slower positions.
Ironically, improving your rapid/classical thinking often improves blitz too.

And honestly, almost everyone feels horrible at blitz sometimes. The time pressure exposes every weakness immediately. 😄
