Improving Your Chess - Resources for Beginners and Beyond...
https://www.chess.com/blog/RussBell/improving-your-chess-resources-for-beginners-and-beyond
Dear Ripz,
I can help you to improve all of your skills at chess (openings, strategies in the middlegames, tactics, endgames and analysing your own games). I am official full-time chess coach. Let me introduce myself.
My name is Gabor Balazs. I am a Hungarian FM, fighting for the IM title. My top ELO is 2435. I have been playing chess for 21 years. I won the Hungarian Rapid Championship twice (U16 and U18).
I love teaching chess and it is very important for me that both of us enjoy the lessons beside the hard work. I have pupils almost all the levels from beginners to advanced players (1100-2200 ELO).
You can see a lot of feedbacks from my coaching services here: https://www.chess.com/forum/view/chess-lessons/feedbacks-from-my-services
Why should you choose me?
- I have a widespread opening repertoire (a lot of openings are analysed by strong Grand Masters).
- I have a lot of chess books in PDF and Chessbase format, so I can teach you the main middlegame plans, the art of calculations, famous chess games and the endgame theory.
- I have elaborated, personalized training plans, which help you to improve your skills effectively.
- I help you analyse your games deeply, so you can realise your mistakes and learn from them.
- I am really flexible and hard-working person, the quality of my work is really important for me.
Please, contact me (balazsgabor1991@gmail.com), if you are interested in working with me, I am looking forward to your message.
Your overall play isn't bad at all, and you are also playing 30 mins rapids which give you enough time to think during a game.
You need to look carefully at the games you have played, and without any extrenal aid trying to figure out where things went right or wrong. After doing that, you may consult a stronger player, or an engine to find out if your second thoughts were right or not (although an engine will find every single tactical mistake you have made, but will be unable to tell you if your strategical plan was right or not).
Also, you should not be satisfied with a move that looks good, or even forced during a game. Take this for example, a game you've lost:
Instead of the "obligatory" 17.Qxe2, the simple intermediate move 17.d6 just plants a monster on d6, and leaves white with a totally winning position. I think Black has to give up the queen with something like 17...Bxf1 or 17...Bxf3 and then try to make a fortress, but it seems to me that breaking this fortress shouldn't be difficult.
Let's take a look at some of the games you lost recently.
Most of the games were lost because of one move tactics. Your play is actually very good for your rating, barring missed tactics.
I would recommend you practice tactics every day - even if its just for half an hour. It will help with your rating a lot. Since you're a diamond member, you should be able to do unlimited tactics here --> chess .com/puzzles
Hope this helps!
You are gaining experience, always an excellent teacher! GEt pieces to good squares, that is learned from live games- however, you can surely remember as well to consider every capture, every check, and every checkmate threat every move. Sort of paranoid, but it helps avoid mishaps and missed opportunities. One very good book regards those checkmates- The Art Of The Checkmate, by Renaud and Kahn. Very good to see these patterns that willbecome common for you, but as you note, you are just starting out! Good luck, stay alert!

When you say missing one move tactics you mean that I was doing good positional wise but missed a tactic?

i mean, sort of. example -
move 13: if you just play e5, you should be much better, but instead you play be7 (unpinning ig??), which loses a pawn after qxe6+
Recently started playing chess and I am wondering where my play is going wrong and what things I should work on. Any tips would be great and if someone could analyze my recent games that'd be great. Some of them I just would not think and would do one move blunders haha. Working on that. Also I find that I am not doing to hot with my openings but I hear that beginners should not focus on openings.
