I see many beginners play h4/a4 for no reason and play h5/a5 to copy their opponent, and they both pretty much waste a move. What's the point of it?
Here's an example of a game I had with a beginner. I played h4 to control a square to I could win the queen, and he replied with h5. (I couldn't remember the exact position but it's similar)
