Being new in chess.com

this is the experience I got in my first day. First I looked at all kind of things I can do and the played a few games. Then I played puzzles. When I decided to see the forum section, I had a shocker. People are rude and comment with swear words. In one forum, I was accused of being a troll account, which is apparently a pranking account, and I got banned from writing in that forum. I have so far loved every section of chess.com, which are great and clear by the way, but the community experience has been terrible. I hope all of your experiences have been much better, because I feel really bad of being banned of forums and getting violent comments from more experienced, yet aggressive members.

I would like to know the experiences you all have had and how have you reacted to them.

Welcome to chess.com.  People say that the forum community here is pretty good overall but there are certainly some rough edges.

There are some definite troll types here.  Some people do say some pointless off-topic things and they come back day after day to post them and derail threads. Others post things simply to stir up argument.  Kids often don't seem to pay any attention to what is being said and just make random comments.

But the word troll is used too frequently to attack anyone who disagrees with anyone else. Overall, the community seems pretty healthy. We try to remove the abusive ones.

I don't think you were banned or muted. (I checked.) Most likely just blocked by some thread creator who can't stomach any questions or disagreement. It only extends to threads created by that person and keeps you from messaging them. It can be a little jarring but I think it helps to limit flame wars.
