Best openings for beginners?

I (an opening noob) think Queens Gambit is a solid choice for white. Since there are no "tricks" involved and you can just focus on controling the center and getting a lead in development.

Depends on how simple you want it to be. The simplest answer is to open with e4 as White since it usually leads to quicker and more aggressive games, which is better for almost all skill groups. But you'd also need how to counter 1. d4, and other openings.
Just follow main opening principles: try to build a pawn centre, knights to c3/f3, develop bishops, castle and build from thereon. Or Google a solid opening setup which you can never screw up completely the first 10 moves or so, if openings are your weakness.
