Look, I am not changing time controls. They are too long. So saying that I should play long is not really helping. Besides my friends won't play 30 min.

Besides I tried 10 min and it was not too long or too short. Just right.

You're the expert. I guess we should be taking advice from you...

Yeah, it is weird. Rated very low and asks for help, then tells people their advice is bad.

In his defense, his profile says he's a little older than 8.

A little? Nah, that was years ago since I was 8. No, 10 min is not too short!

10 is just right for me! Not too long or too short. The reason I blunder is not because of the time control!

I can't play 60 min, it's just too long!

There must be another way to stop blunders.

You have it all figured out. Congrats! (unfollowing, lol)

If there is not another way to stop blunders, I guess I will make blunders!

Figure out what?

I'm not saying that your advice is bad, it's just that I can't play because it's too long and I can't spend a lot of time playing games on chess.com because I have to manage my club and other things outside of chess.com!

I mean 30 min. Fine, how about I'll do 15|10 min but my friends won't play anything longer then 5 or 10 min!

If you really want to get better, you listen to all these masters. You don’t have to follow them, but all their recommendations might help you a ton! Most of these people here are saying to do longer games like 30 minutes. Maybe you should try it. It will help you.

2000Knights

10 min is fine for me. Also @EnergeticHay says that 10 min is good and he's a NM!

If your friends dont play longer games than 10-minute games that means that they're probably also under 1000 Elo lol. Its almost impossible for an beginner to improve if you have no time to really think through the moves. I played 90 minutes games when i started, and i still think that they're really helpfull to get better. So to answer your question, no , there is no other way to ' stop blunders'😂.

All of them are 1000+

Ok then why did you make this forum?

cottonkandy

A when you already know what you are doing?

2000Knights

Because maybe some people will know how to stop a lot of blunders.... After I made this forum, I found a helpful blog on improving.

jdouglasj

I am about as bad as the OP. I see people saying we should play longer games, but when I screw up the puzzles, it's usually because I just don't see the patently obvious. It seems like it is more a sight problem than an "enough time to think" problem.

Also more like 1 min max.
