Number one thing to get better at chess is to understand your mistakes and why you make them. Mistakes happen because you are not familiar with a position, surprised about the opponents move, time pressure, laziness, being too aggressive, being too passive, or a general lack of understanding of position(brought about by laziness, lack of experience, time pressure, etc)
I'd be interested, but just a warning, I do learn differently than a lot of people that I've met. The easiest way for me to learn is to play and have someone who will explain the moves and the reasons behind them to help me (I will NEVER use any sort of chess engine for online games).
Pm if you're willing to teach me
Just beginning -AGAIN- and would love some free advice, guidance, coaching or moral support.
I think I know all the basic moves. I used to play with my father DECADES ago. Not enough to learn more than how the pieces move (I think it was too mentally draining for him after work).
I was just about to start a new question/thread in this Beginner section when I saw your post. If anyone has an opinion on sets/equipment find my question in the forum so we don’t derail this persons post.
Thanks for any help and guidance.
Cheers.
