I recently hit the 4 digit on my Blitz, I have to say that journey from 850ish to 980ish was incredibly tough, probably around 800 games.
From the high 900s to 1080+ it was a matter of a few games.
Very strange statistic but I find it quite interesting.
The only thing I noticed is that I play 1 specific opening and I hit accuracy of up to 98% with 60%. I started to analyse game and use the self-analysis more often as well.
i found in rapid i stayed around 850-950 for like years and then making the jump to around 1150 happened almost all at once. it's weird. now i'm trying to get my blitz rating up to 1000 and again finding getting past the high 900s to be incredibly difficult. i think it has to with the fact people at lower levels are really unpredictable players and that it can make it really easy to get thrown off/rattled/tilted, but around 1000+ people start playing more "proper" which actually makes life easier even though my opponents make less mistakes.
