game time

I am new to chess.com and enjoy learning the game.  Can I get into a game that doesn't have a time limit.  Being a beginner I like to take a little more time than needed in a 10 min game.  Is there a place on the site that can help me learn more about the site.  I joined $30 a year plan to see if I like it..

You can pick longer time control live games, like 1 hour per side, or 45 minutes with 45 seconds increment.

Apart from that, you can play daily chess as well. There you have from 1 to 14 days per move.

Thank you for that info... I just have to learn how to find and set things up...

No problem. happy.png

Just go to play section and choose one of the longer time controls.

Take a look at daily chess.    I have enjoyed the daily games.

I play Daily Chess, 3-day moves, 5 games --- which is about all my life will let me handle.  The long time control allows time to really examine a move; it also removes any excuse for a hurried move.

How can I chat while playing?  I can't seem to do that

I signed up for the Gold plan as I am a newbie to chess.  If I want to upgrade to say Platinum or Diamond will my $29 go towards those upgrades or do I have to come up with full amounts?  After doing puzzles and learning to play I want to possibly upgrade but if my $29 for Gold is only for Gold then there is no incentive to pay the full amounts for Platinum or Diamond.  I just joined this past Friday.  I wasn't sure if I would enjoy it so I didn't want to throw out $99 for something that I really didn't like.

Hi there. You can easily upgrade your membership by going to Settings > Account/Payment and hitting membership plans. The credit for your gold membership should automatically go to help pay for the next membership plan. If you have any issues feel free to contact the support desk.
