How should I increase my rating points?

Here are all the tips I have for you:

Generally, you can get over 1 000 for sure if you avoid hanging pieces outright and if you learn opening principles and follow them.

Hi! My name is Lauren Goodkind and I’m a respected chess coach and chess YouTuber based in California:

I have tips and resources to help you improve your chess skills so you can increase your rating points.
-I offer a free beginner’s free eBook on my website, in case you are interested. The book is about asking questions before each move.
-Learn basic tactics such as the fork, discovered attack, pin, and more. I offer interactive puzzles on my website:
-I recommend two books for you: “50 Poison Pieces” and “Queen For A Day: The Girl’s Guide To Chess Mastery.” Both books are available on Amazon.com. Both books are endorsed by chess masters!
-If you are serious about chess, I highly recommend you hiring a chess coach to help you.
-Also consider all checks and captures on your side and also your opponent’s side. Always as, “If I move here, where is my opponent going to move?”
I hope that this helps.

Just increase them.
That's all.
Typical Beginner question: “How do I increase my rating?”
Answer: Forget about your rating and focus on learning the game—sound opening principles, strategy & tactics, end game fundamentals, puzzles, lessons, etc. Develop goals with a strong reason behind them (commitment), clear training plan (direction), and focused trading & study. Improve your knowledge, focus on the process and your rating will improve dramatically. Focus on your rating and you will not succeed.
Lauren has some good info; check it out.
BTW—why a goal of 1000, why not 1800, 2000, etc.? Be bold, be committed, be successful, become awesome!
Cheers!

@CenterMass51075 gave a very good answer. Your primary focus should not be on your rating, but on your ability to play chess. The more you understand about playing and are able to apply your knowledge to your games, the better your results will be. Your rating will naturally increase.

Another vote here for just improving your game and not worrying about rating points. Look through the Forums here and you will see a lot of "I'm stuck at 1000, how can I raise my rating?" or "What does a 1500 player need to do to reach 2000?" enquiries. Learn the basics, practice, analyze your games--especially losses. You'll improve over time.
Over the last 100 years there have been a myriad of helpful manuals aimed at beginners. Siegbert Tarrasch's "The Game of Chess" remains a classic. It starts with the simplest positions and covers all the principles of positional play (many of which Tarrasch was the first to elucidate) and opening play. (Be sure to get the algebraic edition.)

Why choose a number anyway? I never understood why people do that if they have no idea about their potential. Just try to improve as much as possible.
Most important: always check your intended move is no blunder before you play it.
That little mental discipline alone is enough to get to 1500.

1. This is a 3 month old thread.
2. The opening poster is now rated 1200, so hoping that he becomes 1000 is just rude.
