How to get a game longer then 30 minutes

What is the best way to get a game longer then 30 minutes? I’m rather new to the site. Most people recommend playing longer games as a beginner to give yourself time to calculate and analyze. If I request a 30 minute game, I get matched in seconds. If I request a ‘custom’ game of 40-45 minutes, it frequently doesn’t find a player. Any suggestions?

You can play either 45|45 or 1 hour per side. Those are default longer time controls, and you will find some games for sure. From time to time it will take 2 minutes or so to find a pair, don't let that discourage you. When you get a lot higher, it will be somewhat more difficult.
