How to open up a closed game?

I feel much more comfortable after trading knights for bishop and forcing an open game but I suck at breaking apart pawn walls. Help required

That is often not possible. So try not to close the position in the first place.
Read the section.....'Pawn Breaks.....initiating an attack'.....here...

Pawn breaks (e.g. pushing Kingside pawns in a closed KID position) are often the only solution in such cases.
