Hurry up & move!

I am a beginner and an older player. Tech is not my forte. Twice today I get messages with in a minute saying hurry up or you are too slow. The last game I won with over 3 minutes left on my clock. Point is what gives with harassing players during the game. Is it strategy? I would like to see this site offer a speed chess option 2 minutes per player for those who think 5 per player is too slow. I was enjoying this site, but not so much now 😒

This is why I have chat disabled 😐

I didn’t know that was an option. I will do that going forward, thank you

Actually, I have it so that it will notify me if they send a message, and I can voluntarily choose whether to see it or not. Same idea, I guess

You can use your time the way you want. Unless you purposefully stall a lost game, you absolutely can take your time on any move. People who get impatient are normally low rated players who just don't know better.

Hi @SkyKingandPenny
I feel sympathy for you. I encourage you that there is still community that has totally opposite attitude.

Use your time as you want. Do not pay attention or disable chat.

Have you tried playing Daily?

It is intended to work the same way as Postal Chess does in real life. I typically played at the time control of one move every three days (although I often made my move faster than that, of course).

In Daily, you are even allowed to use books or instructional videos to guide you through the opening. That would be cheating if you did it in Rapid or Blitz, but it's perfectly valid in Daily.

Oh, yes! I looooove daily. Now I slowed down but I played a lot of them. No rush and you have always something interesting while you are in the line in supermarket or going somewhere.

In what sense would that help with the problem described above?

An even better option is to report the unsporting opponent.

He wouldn't have opponents telling him to hurry up and move?

It's POSTAL.
