I am serious about learning chess. Where should I start?
Best advice I heard was do nothing, improve square control, don't blunder and wait until the opponent messes up... most games bellow like 1800 rating are decided on missed tactics so your best bet is do 1 million tactics and really try to find the perfect move before moving on!
And never forget that it's okay to blunder! Check out my silliest ones 😝👉 https://www.chess.com/blog/autumncurtis/blunder-blogs

Hi! Welcome to the world of chess!
My name is Lauren Goodkind and I’m a respected chess coach and chess YouTuber who helps beginners out :

Here’s some ideas to help you get better.
-I recommend two books for you: “50 Poison Pieces” and “Queen For A Day: The Girl’s Guide To Chess Mastery.” Both books are available on Amazon.com. Both books are endorsed by chess masters!
-If you are serious about chess, I highly recommend you hiring a chess coach to help you.
-Also consider all checks and captures on your side and also your opponent’s side. Always as, “If I move here, where is my opponent going to move?”. Do this for every single move!
-Play with a slow time control, such as G/30 so you have plenty of time to think before every move.
-You are welcome to come to my free online beginner chess class on May 14:
-Feel free to ask my question on my live chess livestream Youtube channel, every Sunday from 1-2pm PST.
Hi,
Gotham Chess is nice but as you are French I would recommend 'Blitztream'.
He also has a dedicated beginner channel 'Blitztream facile'.
Otherwise do puzzles to improve your tactics, don't waste time learning openings (but understand opening principles such as moving minor pieces before heavy ones, don't move the f pawn, castle rather quickly, control the center...)
Hi I started playing chess for fun with my friends some time ago and I think I like it quite a lot. I want to learn how to play for real. Where should I start?
The cheapest place to really start, if you are serious, is to seek out a chess club in your area. You can find them at schools, libraries and coffee houses. There is always one somewhere. Usually you can network from there.
If you want to do this without a club, I would recommend a coach. There are many online coaches, of various quality. Making a post like yours will bring them out like moths to a flame. The question to ask is how many high quality students they were able to teach. It is often a good idea to find a coach that is into what you are into, so if you don't gel with a coach, find another.
good luck, my friend.
Hi, you can learn the basics from the lessons here at chess.com( https://www.chess.com/lessons), or if you feel lost and you want somebody to guide you to learn faster and more effectively you should hire a coach.

"Where should I start?" ++ Start with endgames: first 3 men, then 4 men, then 5 men.
"Do you have any books/tutorials recommendations?" "Chess Fundamentals" - Capablanca
"I would like to learn from the ground up to become a good player (good enough to be competitive in tournaments)." ++ Play, lose, and analyse your lost games.
