I really wish there was 30|20 and longer time controls

I wish there were longer time controls available, other than custom setting when finding opponents is very difficult.

I still run into time trouble in 15|10 and end up throwing away wins etc. so I think it would be way better for my improvement to play longer games. I think the same applies to a lot of other people too.

Does anyone else think there should be a classical or standard category here? I would enjoy that very much.

There are already slow time controls here-- 30 0 and 60 0. There used to be a 45 45 time control.

The problem is that so few people choose them already.

Adding more could just make it even harder to get a slow time control game.

Kind of, but 45|45 is kind of hidden in the drop down menus and 60|0 has no increment. 30|0 is not very long.

I am just thinking, if there was a separate category, where 30|20 would be the default, then maybe more people would play it. Now that the default of everything is 10 minute rapid (in reality it is blitz) the most people play that.

A lot of people just don’t care to go through the menus and all that. And yeah I know a lot of the kids these days have attention spans that last half a TikTok-video, but still…

I'd happily play unrated long rapid time controls. Just would have to figure out a time of day that works...

I've been thinking about doing something like 20|10 lately to hopefully remedy the fact that I'm generally quite slow. The fact that it would take a while to find games is deterring me, though. But if it helps me to play better, it's worth it.
