Hi, I started Chess from scratch a month ago. My ratings dropped to less than 400 (Rapid) at first and I have just crawled to 580 ish a few days ago.
1) Is there anyway to earn as quickly ratings as possible? Is it always 8-10 points that I can earn per play?
there really isnt any easy way to improve, you just need to keep working on tactics, board awareness, evaluating pieces, etc. right now improving a rating will be faster but as your rating goes up it will be more difficult. that is why i do not try to focus on my rating, ive been stuck at my rating for about 3-4 months now and i expect (but hope not) that i will be at this rating for a while.
2) Is there any way to be matched with someone with different level of rating? Although I don't set any limitation in my preference, I always get matched with someone in the same level. I just think that would be fun to play with higher/lower level players
you can set a preference to you only face people within that range, i believe it is called outgoing challenges, but it may be called something else. I have mine set to -25 and +200.
3) I am solving puzzles on Chess.com everyday. Also I am trying to play with AI when I don't have time, and my level is like, I can beat 1200 but not 1400. Is there any resources that you particularly recommend for beginners?
solving puzzles are great you should keep doing them everyday and try to get better at it. as for practicing against AI it is not really the best idea because AI doesnt play like a human. the AI can play perfectly and defend perfectly, however it tends to make random mistakes.
Thank you
