I think I may be addicted to this game
is chess actually fun 🤔

You still lose even if you're good. Just your opponents have to be stronger, too.
This site matches ratings, so in the long run you will always have 50% wins, 50% losses.

You're right. Really high ratings will be paired with lower ratings a lot, and thus win a lot.
I plan on having lots of fun even with my low rating though. Even if I will lose a lot more than GMs.

I think the most fun in chess is to analyze one of the great games of the masters, especially if you have a good commentary for it as well.

Collecting pawns is easy dopamine so yes. It loses fun if you play competitively and seek to increase e-peen size

what is the point to play chess
You decide for yourself: if it gives you pleasure overall, play ; Otherwise, there are a thousand other hobbies or activities to enjoy.

What is the point to play chess?
It's that great feeling of being smarter and brighter than most people on Earth. Those with mediocre IQ's rarely learn how the Knight moves - It's that rush of being superior.
And yet stay humble! LoL

Not really. Chess isn't a true way to measure pure intelligence, and even more so, your point about how playing chess somehow correlates with high IQ is false. I mean, you are rated 800, saying that your IQ is higher because you have an average rating doesn't make sense.
