is playing against the bots good practice?

This is uncommon advice but I personally believe that playing a lower elo bot to spot their blunders is good training for spotting your opponents blunders. Lower elo players will give you free material but it is up to you to see it. Obviously don't expect humans to make the errors the same way bots do, they make very bizarre blunders. However you are training specifically: Is the piece undefended/hanging? If the piece is defended do you have enough material attacking to win material?

I find playing bots very useful. Also playing bots at different levels, i do find handy aswell.

Chess is supposed to be played between people. Most users praising playing vs bots are under 1000, it speaks for itself. If you want to be a really good chess player, playing bots is actually one of the worst things you can do. (The absolutely worst is to play bullet.)

I have to agree, however playing humans and playing bots both have their own flaws, i recommend just playing them both. don't use computer help when playing bots though, only use friendly and challenge mode.

Playing bots is fun, low stress, much better practice than playing fast games

Playing with bots your level is good as it helps you improve from your mistakes. Not playing with weaker bots like martin.
