Did you memorise this and how long did it take you to get a game where you could use it? Every time I try to use something like this my opponents moves never let me use it

I did memorised it because i usually play the Italian or Rui Lopez opening, so it was very easy to remember. It took quite a bit, because as you say people usually move other pieces but you only need to keep playing and will find the chance to do it.
