Maria bot

Is anybody else having a hard time with Maria? I cruised up until her and she's literally owned me every single game without question or mercy. She feels way higher than 1200. I'm typically black and she typically opens E4 so I play french and no matter what I try she stomps me. Any tips or suggestions?

When I play Maria, she sacrifices a lot (as the description says). I think the best way is to accept them (unless it losses) and try to convert it at the end, when pieces are traded off so it is easier.

Is there any variation in difficulty with bots, Jade and Maria. I never got wins with either, not even close. In the recent weeks I've been winning routinely ?? Anyone else see any "reset" of the AI? I find it hard to believe I'm suddenly playing a lot better

Maria tries way too hard to be like Mikhail Tal, trying to open up aggressive play while simply not being good at it; she's too indecisive, and her "sacrifices" are often quite unsound. That, and she's also not very good at defending against attacks, either.

Play calmly and halt any attacks she tries to pull on you, then launch your own and crush her. She'll fall like a house of cards if you play correctly.

Here, I thwarted a quick mating trap by Maria and tricked her with a (not really) sneaky knight sacrifice, winning her queen. From there, I set up my heavy pieces pieces and went for the jugular — all while being mindful of her having the bishop pair — with devastating results.
