Vienna gambit can be used as a beginner. There isn't really anything complicated, except that the king might be a bit weakened, but that can be easily fixed

main line is extremely complicated

there's three different moves after this with numerous lines and branches

I bet a 900 would never play main line in the Vienna Gambit.

you never know, whenever i saw the Vienna gambit at 800 i already knew the main lines, just depends on the player

they rarely do, so there isn't anything to worry about. Once they take the pawn, just get control of the center and develop your pieces. There isn't anything complicated with that.

^ yeah everything makes sense except for the Four Knights game. Please do not play the four knights game or your interest in chess will quickly fade

I was totally agree with you some month ago and then i took few lessons with a fidé Master,he told me not to avoid the four Knights ,especialy the four knights Italian ,gave me some tactics on how to open and attack the kingside castle .And since the four knights is one of my favorite as black and never boring

Danimal77

Whatever you choose play it a lot. That way you learn what works and what doesn't.

I'm moderately new and i've been consistently using the grob opening and making space for the knight then just doing whatever from there. Should I use a different opening?

Im also consistently losing

KingMonkey400

I would not suggest ruy lopez, I would go for Caro kann and London.  Also learn KID for black when white doesn't play 1.e4 ( the move needed to start off your caro kann defense )

KingMonkey400

Even now at 1100 I play the caro and KID bc I think they are solid openings.  I also play 1.d4 Accelerated London System

DrewGainer

That's funny! Except for the Caro-Kann, that's pretty much my opening repertoire!

KingMonkey400

lol

The grob is good. Maybe you should try 1. g4 2. Bg2 3. Nf3 4. b4 5. Bb2 6. Nc3 or something like that

that setup absolutely garbage. the b4 and g4 pawns are weakened, you might as well play g3 and b3 instead of weakening your own pawns for no reason.

Usually when people say danish gambit they mean the triple gambit, but sometimes they mean this

It can be called triple gambit because you're giving up 3 pawns but you earn back 1

DasBurner

maybe try the Jerome Gambit?
