The wayward is a fine opening for beginners, but over 800s should know how to punish it.

Don't say that.

It is not a good opening and will NOT help you improve.

Yes it will. It's just an opening, what's it going to do?

How would it help them improve as much as, say, italian game?

Why do you think that'll help them improve more? There is nothing wrong with using an opening that beginners fall for alot.

Do you know the definition of, "improve?"

The wayward Queen attack I'm sure will trip up beginners. And if they improve, then they won't be playing beginners anymore.

And when they don't play beginners anymore, then the Wayward Queen Attack won't work, and they'll have to COMPLETELY reassess their opening, instead of playing an opening like Italian Game which would have worked perfectly fine at beginner level.

It's not like they won't improve if they play a trappy opening, once the trap works, it's just like any other game with more material.

I guess you should tell Eric Rosen to stop playing the stafford.

If the trap fails then they are considerably worse.

not for beginners.

You completely disgarded my point.

And that doesn't really matter. Tell that to the people who get easy wins with the stafford. Or even the danish. Or just any gambit that is trappy.

There isn't anything wrong with using an opening best for you. I bet if I was a 2000 I wouldn't be playing the danish anymore. Because better players know what to do

JackRoach

"And that doesn't really matter."

Yes it actually does. You can't refute a point by dismissing it. Read it again, several times if you need to, and maybe then you'll get it.

"Tell that to the people who get easy wins with the stafford. Or even the danish. Or just any gambit that is trappy."

I'm sure they'd agree with you.

And I'm just as sure that most of the people that play it aren't high rated.

Tell that to Eric Rosen. He's an International Master.

JackRoach

He plays low-rated players with it.

And I'm sure there are lots of people out there playing the danish under 2000

Bruh no he doesn't.

Infinite_Blitz

Stop being salty that you lost against a low rated player that played the wayward

JackRoach

I'm sure the Stafford Gambit is a good gambit or whatever. Maybe it's bad, idc.

We are talking about the Wayward Queen Attack. And it is much more realistic to get to 1000 then to get to 2000 maybe when the Stafford and Danish gambits don't work as well.

Point is, getting high rated with the Wayward Queen attack is impossible.

JackRoach

And if they want to improve and even if they don't want to improve, this is not good to play as they will never improve with it.

I've fallen for this once in a tournament because I wasn't paying attention enough attention. I also had a very early bath because I missed a similar variant of attacking the F-ing pawn that was right in front of me. My favourite thing about these losses has been playing the 2nd tournament game and seeing how little the players had to offer once a game gets past 5-6 turns.* *Before anybody asks...No, I don't think I'd beat Carlsen in round two of a chess.com tournament.
