What is white's best move here?  This puzzle is for beginners.  The position was taken from a game that I played recently.

Nxh6 looks appealing.

Grab the hanging pawn and threaten Nf7+ on the next move, which, if allowed, would force black to give up the exchange to save his Queen.

But I’d say Nxg7 is more effective on further thought, because after Rook takes, Rf7 comes and just ruins black’s day.

I would say Nxh6, but don’t think this is for beginners

Nxh6 can be played while threatening Nf7+ and Queen for under rook protection. So Queen will have to respond by moving to 7th rank before that happens.. (Qd7 or Qc7 and joining rook for defending)

But white rook will give checkmate from 8th rank..

So Nxh6 looks like a winning move, winning either material or the game. Black is already down on material so any forced exchange is good for white..

I didnt go deep, i'm not sure if black has any surprise counterplay chances.

I don't see how any of these moves are the solution. You just lose pieces.
