Top 10 openings not to play as white

Sort:
Sack_o_Potatoes

These are the worst openings to play as white. 1 is worst of all and 10 is bad but not worst.

Link to my forum worst openings as black:   https://www.chess.com/forum/view/for-beginners/10-openings-not-to-play-as-black

10. Grob (1.g4) Totally outclassed my King's Fianchetto opening and Modern defense

9. Amar opening (1.Nh3) This allows your opponent to gain a large amount of center control but protects your f pawn

8. Saragossa opening (1.c3) Makes it much harder to develop your knight, and also allows your opponent to gain slight center control.

7. Dressden opening (1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. c4) This forces you to fianchetto a bishop (I will add link for the word fianchetto)

6. Center game (1.e4 e5 2. d4) This makes you give up a center pawn then you have to take back with your queen then your queen gets attacked then you go right back and then you waste a move

5. Kadas opening (1. h4) This only allows you to develop your rook and developing your rook to early is dangerous. But can slightly weaken 4 move checkmate threats, still not helpful.

4. Sodium attack. (1. Na3) Does totally NOTHING it just skips you first turn and it gives your opponent a great center

3. Mises opening (1.d3) Outclassed by Van't Krujs opening and makes it hard to develop your king side bishop

2. Barnes opening (1.f3) Gives your opponent a nice center and makes less king safety

1. Barnes opening: Fools mate. (1.f3 e4 2. g4) You get checkmated
