Why Beginners Improve Fast With Consistency and Daily Support

By Darko Polimac, FIDE Trainer

If you're just starting out on Chess.com — maybe 800, 1000, or even around 1200 — one factor matters more than anything else for getting better:

Consistency.

Most beginners aren’t stuck because they lack talent.
They stay stuck because their training is unstructured — puzzles one day, blitz the next, then nothing for several days.
That kind of practice kills progress.

But when a beginner follows a simple daily plan, everything changes.

The Power of Daily Tasks

Daily tasks give you:

  • A clear plan

  • No confusion about what to study

  • Step-by-step improvement

  • Steady confidence

Just 30–60 minutes a day is enough when the work is focused:

  • A few middlegame puzzles

  • A small endgame exercise

  • One or two analyzed games

  • A simple principle to remember

Beginners improve fastest when they repeat the basics every single day.

Why Coaching Support Matters

A coach reviewing your progress every day makes improvement much easier.

In my coaching program, students receive:

  • Daily guidance via Slack

  • Live lessons via zoom
  • Game analyses in video form
  • Quick corrections

  • Motivation and support

  • Simple answers to questions

  • Small adjustments to stay on track

With daily supervision, beginners stop repeating the same mistakes and start understanding patterns that most players miss at early levels.

Consistency + Correct Guidance = Rapid Growth

This method has helped many of my students progress quickly:

  • From 600 → 1000

  • From 900 → 1400

  • From 1200 → 1600

Progress accelerates once you have a routine, a study schedule, and a coach helping you avoid bad habits.

If You’re Ready to Grow

You don’t need to study for hours.
You don’t need to memorize long opening lines.

You only need:

  • A simple daily routine

  • A coach reviewing your work

  • The discipline to show up every day

This approach works — I’ve seen it with dozens of learners.

If you're a beginner and truly want to improve, consistency is your greatest weapon, and daily support makes the journey smooth and effective.
