I remember it saying that the computer doesn’t like to see knights on the edge, since that only leaves them with half the active squares

This is a blunder because that move allows Bishop e6 saving the pawn you would have won by taking the pawn and taking back and taking with your bishop on e2. Though, I don't really understand why the chess engine is counting this as a blunder over a mistake/missed win. idk ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Another aspect as to why this may be a blunder, is due to the fact that knights do not excel on the edge of the board, but rather the middle, and additionally where you placed the knight did not threaten any of black's pieces. A good thing to practice is general piece positioning, and learning specifically where each piece excels on the board.

By moving the Knight to Nh4, what was your main goal, to capture the Bishop? If so, then you have to think about how your opponent would respond to you moving the Knight to Nh4 (before moving the Knight).

Your opponent could respond with pawn to g6. This protects your opponent’s Bishop and can potentially trap your Knight if you are not careful by moving your pawn to f3.

This is a blunder because there is no rhyme or reason for the Knight to move to Nh4 at this time period.

Pawn to c4 is a better move because you have two players (a Pawn and a Bishop) attacking the Pawn on c4 while your opponent only has one player (a Pawn) defending the Pawn on c4. Since you have more pieces attacking that square you will win that square with the Bishop as an end result winning an extra pawn (+1 point).
