I think a 2v2 chess tournament for the pros would be fun to watch. Randomized teams or maybe combined average Elo of the top 20 players or something like that. I think being creative with tournament formats and being more fun sometimes is what chess needs long term.

WWE already invented tag team wrestling.

Tennis already invented doubles tennis.

Chess should have thought of that long ago.
