Any tips to make learning chess more fun for a 7-year-old?

if you plan on being good prenuim is nice. but yeah chesskid and chess.com are both by same people so if you like it here most likely you will like it there

Chesskid is good, yeah.
You can also consider getting him a more fun-themed chessboard, where all the pieces are animals or cartoon characters.
If he really gets into the game you'll know he's ready when he wants the real thing anyway.
I would also go over some simple lines that will allow him the quick wins first, so he gets a taste of being able to win.
