I feel like I'm on the set of Star Trek Voyager. Neelix can't match wits with Tuvok, so he keeps on making jokes. This is ridiculously predictable.

You got the bunny.  Your wisdom is unmatched. The bunny thinks he's seen you in the name of the rose.

My house in New Mexico was in a few scenes from, “Being Rose.”

Thanks TT.  The bunny hadn't watched that movie.  Will do soon. Looks interesting.

But to be an intellectual like LQ we have to catch up on star Trek with greater urgency.

I thought it originated from India. Being an Indian myself I support what I stated. But I guess you living in China (your flag says your from China, sorry If I'm wrong about where you came from) you support that Chess came from China.

Reminds me of a Star Trek episode: For the World Is Hollow and I Have Touched the Sky.

A planet is lead by a Computer/Oracle/Guardian/Father.

A lady of that planet tells that Oracle, "You told me one thing and the strangers told me another thing, but they claim that they speak the Truth."

And that Oracle said, "That's their Truth. We have our Truth."

And the lady asks a profound question, "Is Truth not Truth for All?"

Indeed everything that was,  is and to be known is found in star trek. We shall catch up with you master. We shall be worthy. Do not forsake us.

chess was modeled in many different countries including iran, india and france but it was originated/made in india but it underwent most changes in france contradicting the popular but misleading theory that chess was made in Iran

Get real truth here with facts.

Chess originated in India.

Sorry but Magnus has sung.  It's Singapore.

Fun Fact:  I’ve watched every episode of every Star Trek series, and I’ve watched every Star Trek movie. I don’t speak Klingon, because foreign languages are not one of my strengths.

Oh no.  So it's only the bunny who been left behind.  Noooooo!

thenextlevelpro

the base form of chess was orginated from india

What everyone plays is European. The rules for everything before that are almost unrecognizable.
Varad-ad

Chess was orignated in India and was called Chaturanga, eventually Greeks and russians modified it to make it what we play today, the persians also moified it to shatranj.china has noting to do here

Chess came from India. China learned it and made a better version of chess in Chinese Chess.

I agree to this, but according to the title of this thread, chess(what we play on chess.com etc.) was abselutely not orignated in China

... in your opinion?

Take 1 simple piece. The cannon. It moves like a rook but captures by jumping over 1 piece. It moves directly but attacks indirectly by hiding behind another piece be it friend or foe.

Just try to fathom that. That's just 1. I can go on to 10.

the cannon and the 10 other pieces are not in modern chess, which is not chinese

Eta_Carinae_870

Everything originated in CHina

@ Long-Qwack , I am afraid claiming you are Vietnamese does not make you Vietnamese.

It would explain your love for all things French though...but this is the internet. Some years ago there was an annoying kid on here that insisted he was in love with some anime character and that he would marry her one day....he claimed to be a 13 year old Canadian.

Turns out he was a 350 pound , hairy dude from Puerto Rico.

The only people who believe all cooking terms are French and English is just a French dialect are the French....which means you are French.

and how is this related to the topic?maybeI am not an Indian,so?

Ducking-Duck

Varad, I highly doubt you are Indian.

Half the site claims to be Indian, sure there is safety in numbers but ultimately nobody takes you seriously.

The topic is omlettes and Long-qwack claimed the French invented them and all cooking terms.

’Bake’ might be German but remember German is just another form of French like English.

okay,Then play this game, which country am I from?

Ducking-Duck

English is not half of anything

English has a mere 29% French words in it, another 29% is German, then there is a lot of Latin, Greek , Norse and a variety of lesser languages, it only contains 6% old English.

Merde! You can’t just pluck any old stats out of thin air
