CREATE THE BEST/WORST CHESS PIECES

Sort:
Rornan215

The pope - upgraded bishop which is still limited to his starting color, but can go to any of that colored square on the entire board except if the path is blocked by another piece (there must be some diagonal path that leads to the destination but can be ANY path doesn't need to be a fully straight line can zig zag paths in a lightning bolt shape for example). At the start of the game white chooses which of his 2 bishops he wants to be the pope followed by black choosing his.

A pawn can promote to pope but ONLY if your current pope is killed. Otherwise if your other bishop is still alive he'll become pope upon death of your first one.

Rornan215

Not really specifically a new piece, but a new form of promotion where any major/minor piece can promote upon capturing another piece of equal or greater value, except for pawns which require normal promotion rules.

If knight captures knight/bishop/rook/queen, he becomes a paladin which still moves like a knight but upon defending another piece, if that other piece is captured, he can choose to be captured instead while keeping the attacked piece safe and capturing the attacking piece.

If bishop captures knight/bishop/rook queen, he becomes pope and can move like the pope I mentioned above.

If rook captures rook/queen, it becomes Castle (or Palace if that name is confusing) which moves just like a rook normally does but can also capture diagonally only in melee range.

If queen captures queen, she becomes Empress which still moves like a queen, but while alive, your king can't be checkmated, and if your king does get captured, the empress takes on the checkmate conditions.

If king captures queen, he becomes Emperor which allows him to move two squares in any direction.

Since most situations where you capture a piece of equal/greater value were a trade, most situations you wouldn't manage to keep a promoted piece alive. But it would cause hesitance for certain sacrifices. For example early game if middle pawns are cleared up and queens are in starting positions, you might not want to trade queens or else you'd be promoting their king to emperor.

to hotcrystal. Why are u so racist?! you said something like 4-pawn if promoted by a chinese, japenese, or korean, they loses.

That’s because 4 is unlucky number in China, Japan, and Korea (North or South?)

7-pawn: only exists in 4 player chess.

Moves like a Berolina, but if it reaches the promotion rank, then you are King of the Hill and you win.

Shark2636

the BIG piece. moves like a king but takes up nine squares. the only way to capture this piece is to have it's center square attacked by a knight. can only capture your opponents BIG piece. if it tries to capture normal pieces, it trips over and becomes stunned for 1 turn. value: 0

I like it

The small piece. It only takes up 1/4 of a square. Pawns can't capture it. It can go through pawns. Moves like a rook. It can't capture pawns. Each side starts with 4 small pieces.

santiagomagno15

My new piece is the govment, it can do everything but it doesnt do anything

The queen machine(Qm): Can be placed anywhere on the board at the start. It moves like a king, but it can also create a Queen somewhere adjacent to it. Can only be captured by a knight or a rook.

Value: 100

yipyapyup

The wizard: Goes in between the queen and the bishop and the king and bishop. Is a combination of a bishop and knight. Worth 7 points. Disadvantage: is not able to move until one of your opponents bishops move

4 isn’t really unlucky, but the Chinese character for 4 “四” sounds like the Chinese character for death “死”.

ChampionOfChess100

Pawn=Frozen piece, must be the first piece captured

Queen=Moves as usual, getting check by it 35 times means loss.

King=If reaches 1st/8th rank you win

Chess960 piece=Moves anywhere it likes

Knight=Moves to any square that is of the opposite of its reigning square

Bishop=Moves diagonally 1 square

Rook=Cannot be moved, but attacks square 5 ranks/files away. [f1,c1,a6,h6]

SelceSue

The ATM piece: cannot use it to right check

The Sailboat:  moves forward diagonal two squares then straight back one square

The Wing-on-Wing: starts in the middle and moves back as far as you want in a straight line as long as there are no other pieces in the way

huihuithepoodle

The bomb: At the start of the game, it will be placed on any square by both players (2 bombs). The bomb cannot be seen.

If the king lands on one of them (even the one they placed!)or castles across it, they are instantly checkmated.

The Dog: moves like a rook. Can sniff out bombs if they land on them. If a bomb is sniffed out, it can either be removed or kept there.

The move both piece:

Each player gets two. Can be placed on the following squares: e3 f6 d1 h6 e2

If you choose to move one, you have to move the other. One moves and captures like  like king and the other moves like rook but captures diagonally in melee range. Every turn that you choose to move your move both pieces you choose which move like king and which move like rook. If one is captured, then both of them are removed from the game, and the opponent gets 10 points.

Shark2636

portal machine. every side get one of these. moves like a rook. can place a portal on any square in a queen's path. if you land on a portal, the piece's position is reverted back to two turns earlier. portals disappear after 2 turns.
