I think I'll start reading books that teach Russian instead of books on teaching chess.

Not so much as being Russian.

Daily injections of Russian blood are a solution.

Most Ruskies actually speak English [i.e. American] but with a Russian accent.

How do you speak in a Russian accent?

Pronounce the R's like you would in Spanish, make "th" into "s" or "z", put the stress on the wrong syllables, pronounce "w" as "v"

Every word beginning with an E sound must have a Y inserted in front of the E. For instance, "every" is pronounced :"yevery"
And "very" is pronounced :"vyery"

Every word beginning with a U must delete the Y sound,.
Therefore "united" becomes like "oonited".

Every word with a U in the middle of it, also deletes the Y and makes a straight OO sound.
example: Communist becomes "comooneest"

Note also the I (eye) sound is a long ee sound
again "comooneest"

W becomes "VW" "What" becomes "Vwaht"

Fritz [Schumacher (author of 'Small is Beautiful')] engaged a local man at the station by asking, "How are things?" "Fine," the local replied. "What is it you do?" asked Fritz. "Oh, I work on that farm over there," he said pointing. "I used to own that farm but I had no money to pay the hired hand, so I paid him in land. Eventually he owned all of my farm and now I work for him."

"That is a very sad story," replied Fritz." "Well, not so sad," replied the hired hand, "He has no money either and so he is paying me back in land."

I doubt that it will give you a 100+ point rating boost. I don't really see how it helps you in chess.

Being Russian might help Cool

For someone who does not already speak a Slavic language, learning Russian with any real degree of proficiency would be quite difficult.

So, if you are an English speaker, and you have the desire, dedication and discipline to master Russian, those same qualities can be used to markedly improve your chess game!

As Kasparov said, the capacity for sustained hard work is itself a talent.

bAdSPaSskY that line of reasoning can be used to master any thing with similar skills
