Here is a legal position with 18 queens. The last move, by Black, was exf1=Q+.

See if you can construct a proof game for this position.

It's impossible. White plays Qaxf1 or Qfxf1. Therefore, this game has a technically illegal move because the checkmate symbol is on a move that is not checkmate. However, the position is legal.

I edited #5 to correct Black's last move. Can you construct a proof game for this position?

I was going to suggest to appleseeds7 that posting the position in the Shortest Proof Game thread would likely produce an even shorter game.

I know I produced a very long proof game, but it was a first attempt.

Any proof game works to show it's a legal position. If that was your first time to try making a proof game, you shouldn't be disappointed it was a long one. It gets easier after you've done them for a while. tygxc has done one almost every day for some time.
