You always have a chance to win and to lose. you have control over what piece to move, as opposed to rolling a dice. You learn how to combine different elements ( pieces) for attack and defense. You learn the importance of focusing. Sometimes it's kind of fun especially if you are doing some clever moves. It is a bit of a diversion from everyday life. Variety you know?
