Nakamura and Carlsen may be rivals over the chess board, but Nakamura is far more popular.

Yes, Nelson Nakamura is a well known Brazilian fisherman and television personality.

/ Perhaps it didn't occur to you that there might be an alternate reason that your little regional interest chart showed that Nakamura was drawing the most interest in Brazil?

// There is also a WWE wrestling personality, Shinsuke Nakamura, who is getting a lot of headlines:

WWE Wants Nakamura as New Face of Network in Japan?

/ Shunsuke Nakamura is a famous Japanese soccer star. See a great free kick goal.

/ Why don't you try again and search for news articles on "Magnus Carlsen" and "Hikaru Nakamura"?

/  Maybe this will be Hikaru's year. Who knows?

Yes, "Magnus Carlsen" and "Hikaru Nakamura" would definitely be a better search. Still, it's interesting that so many people in Norway are searching for Nakamura. As far as I'm aware, there isn't a famous Nakamura from Norway. So apparently Carlsen is making people in Norway genuinely interested in chess.

In my humble opinion Nakamura is the best player in the world and he wil destroy cartson very soon in the final stage, the world champi0nship.

Nakamura did pretty well against the machine , he was doing the top three engine moves  over and over again, this means something you know,  he is really preparing to the candidates and my prediction is he wil be  unstoppable .

why Nakamura is  so good?  This is a question for the gods,  i´m askig myself and i don´t find any answer, where do we come from ? what are we?  that kind of stuff you spend your time thinking in vain .

Nakamura is a master of marketing : TV chess blitz competitions, media presence , etc ....

Carlsen seems not interested in communicating in the same way. Asperger or autistic? no one says exactly .

COMPLEX OF THE NUMBER ONE : here we had a campionissimo assoluto in bike : ANQUETIL, almost unknown by non biker. And teh aeternal second : POULIDOR, known by 99% of frenchies. that's paradox, helostfive times against Anquetil, except in a famous "mano a la mano". When Naka beated Carlsen ?? hmmm?

Hikaru Nakamura is among the most popular chessplayers from Norwegian perspective. In addition to be a top five player he is also the absolute number one on chess.com. And he accept everybody as friends. He is my friend here :)  . As the most generous monsterGM on chess.com , of course he is popular.

But it can have been a bicyclesearch. Nakamura is a well known bikebrand in Norway.

Oh... I see. It was probably a combination of both of those things.
