1. download MetaMask. Make sure you save the 12 word recovery key and don't let anyone else know what it is.

2. copy/paste the public wallet address and I'll send a Chess Panda NFT to you

3. go to https://opensea.io, it will ask you for the wallet address. Enter your wallet address and the NFT will show up!!

As far as I understand, you buy them and sell them. But who would pay thousands on an NFT

Kungfucheese

There are certain people willing to pay for certain digital arts in crypto currency and I don't claim to know the minds of those people. Give it a try though, I'll send you a Chess Panda for free. If you could somehow sell it, that is even better!!

And every Chess Panda has properties like this and you could see it on opensea. You could then go to https://cryptofunky.org/chess-games to look up what games they are. Game 74 here is 2016 World Chess Championship round 3 Carlsen vs Karkajin.

I'm in cryptocurrency as a small time investor. When these came out a little while back I didn't understand what it was. I still don't fully understand. I couldn't see the wisdom behind putting so much into digital art but some people are making giant fortunes from this kind of investment. I've seen some news articles where the original person in a meme sold their meme for big bucks. I'll see if I can find some examples.

Edit:  Side eyed Chloe meme here sold for 74,000 usd.

Disaster girl just sold for 500,000 usd.

Bad luck Brian sold for 36,000 usd.

There are many other NFT's, not just memes. These are just examples of how crazy the market is. Some sell for a lot more.

Then you must already have a wallet address, send it to me and I'll send you a Chess Panda absolutely free (assuming your wallet works on Polygon network). You could then  view it on opensea.

DreamscapeHorizons

I'm sure my wallet addresses only work where I keep my crypto. Not on the polygon network. Besides, I'd have to learn all about how to use it first and I'm content just using what I know about now.

Kungfucheese

If you could copy/paste it, I could give it a try. Nowadays all major wallets supports multiple tokens. eg coinbase, metamask etc.

Or just create one on MetaMask, it take 2 mins happy.png

I actually don't know anything about NFT 4 weeks ago. But then I decided to make a collection about Chess and thus born the Chess Pandas. What I have learned is that a collection is a "smart contract" on the block chain. Each "smart contract" could mint multiple NFTs and each NFT has a token id that associates it with image/metadata somewhere. In my case, the images/metadatas are hosted on pinata cloud ipfs server. Opensea marketplace is just a view of the smart contract / NFT. You basically could write code and read the smart contract/NFT off the block chain yourself. Of course opensea added buying/selling features which eventually calls functions on the smart contract to transfer ownership.

What exactly is a NFT ? Trying hard to understand this concept. A friend of mine is a wildlife photographer and has some nice pictures..is this the kind of digital art that can be sold ? Basically is this where you sell the copyright to the photograph you have taken ?
Kungfucheese

My understanding is that the issue of copyright is not part of NFT. What a NFT really is, as far as I understand, is that there is immutable data on the blockchain to show a that a particular crypto address owns some information. An example of information would be a http link to a website somewhere. Most information/images nowadays are hosted on something called IPFS servers, you could google to get more information on ipfs.

There is one thing though that is called "smart contract" and each smart contract has a unique address. If your friend put all his digital images under the same "smart contract", then the smart contract unique identifier could prove all the NFTs come from the same unique source. But still copyright is a different issue.

ALINGROST

Hey! I just tried making my MetaMask wallet following the steps you explained. This is my public wallet address 0x0f9D0F015725b0afbf340bf90e7bF6C449Ad1915 Can you give it a try??

Kungfucheese

@ALINGROST you are now a proud owner of Chess Panda NFT #114, enjoy!! Be sure to checkout the properties and find out what chess games you have!!! If you have any other question, please let me know..

ALINGROST

@Kungfucheese appreciate your quick response. Thanks for sending the NFT. Really glad... I am also new to the NFT stuff and this will be my first ever NFT transaction. Wanted to learn something new, will sure check the properties. I guess the transaction takes some time (due to gas fees maybe, I don't know), will let you know once I receive it. By the way if possible, can you share the address and id of the NFT you just sent?

Kungfucheese

If you go to https://opensea.io
and put in your wallet address, you will see it.

ALINGROST

Got it... Thanks
