The worst chess move EVER!

The urban legend improved by rumors!

Nice, I didn't see it before! However, I suspect from the begining that it is only "an urban legend", spreading as legends did! I found it in the booklet, printed the first time in CCCP (Soviet union!) in 1960's!

but LydiaBlonde 's game also occured as a recorded tournament game; Masterful_Forfeit's game is only one of the first things novices are taught (often with 1.f3 instead) - was the latter officially recorded in a tournament or match? If not, then as the yanks say - close, but no cigar.

actually, here is a shorter game: http://www.exeterchessclub.org.uk/Praxis/simple.html
So, you claim that 1.... resign is worser move then 2... Ke7?
About short games - an another example from a real OTB tournament:
What happened? White was a "caffe" player, proud to not spent more then 15 mins for 40 moves. When a game started, it was 18:00 or so, he make a move and then went to a caffe. He come back in 19:45 to finish the game. However, he didn't know that the time limit is shortened, from 2 hours for 40 moves to 90 minutes...
So, the next candidate for a worser move in the chess history:
2. go to a caffe.
