I;d say you did good throughout the whole game, just make sure you develope earlier.. you took 18 moves to develope your bishop! but i say you did good and i do not see why you thought you lost when you traded queens, i'd say you did really good for a 900 rater vs a 1200.

Good solid game. Like Tonydal said, the 21st move looks to be the real kicker. Your minor pieces were better for pretty much the whole game. Good job containing his knight through the early part.

When you played 19... b5 you loosened up your hold on the c5 square. White should have pounced on that with 20.Nb3, because his best chance (I believe) was to fight to get his knight in the game while keeping your bishop on b7 stuck behind your pawns as long as possible. Put the knight on c5 and it becomes almost as good as a bishop, and he could have started to think about getting his rooks on the open files (possibly even opening up the a-file with his own a3-a4 advance) and attacking your pawns at b5 and d5.

If he'd gone that route, he definitely would have made things a lot harder on you. Nevertheless, you played a very solid game. I definitely think that 21... a5 was a great idea. You had to create a target in that position, and that's the best and most immediate move to do that. I think that even if white had played it a little better (for instance, 22. bxa5 Rxa5 23. Re3) he still would have been tied down to the defense of his a-pawn.

Although it still seems like he could pull off a draw after: 22. bxa5 Rxa5 23. Re3 Rfa8 24. Nb1 Bc6 (getting your bishop out from behind your pawn so he can't pin the pawn with Rb3) 25. Rc3 R8a6 26. Bf3 Ba8 27. Be2 Ra7 28. Rb3

Anyway, all in all, great job!
