A win with the Najdorf Variation

My first outing in the Mid-Sussex League (Division 1) for the second team, turned out to be a joyous occasion. Though it didn't start that way, with FM Cafferty (playing board 1) warning me that my opponent had beaten the club champion, when the first team had played them. Underrated, dangerous and on the up, seemed to be the message.

42 moves in 90 minutes, followed by adjudication.

Wooden sets, digital timers.

Board 3 out of 5.

We drew the match 2.5-2.5, which constitutes a good result for the second team in the 1st Division.

A good day for me and a good day for the club.
