An Unusual Slav Gambit

Hey, this may have been played before...it is an interesting gambit that I found one day staring at the board...I have never yet lost with it, the few times I have used it.  This was my first experiment with it in correspondence chess.  I know that I lost my initiative, and even gave my opponent chances for the win, but he really messed up at the end.  It was a fun game, I hope you enjoy it.  I will post a blog on the openings forum for this idea and see if we can get some bites on ideas.  I made a comment about not posting comments, but sorry, I couldn't resist! :-)

I doubt that this is entirely sound.  White's initiative will not last long enough if Black knows what he is doing.

I never said that it was sound! lol  I use it during speed chess. This was an experiment in correspondence.  Try it and see what you think.

Great novelty and good game.

Isn't this basically the same as d4 d5 Nc3 Nf6 f3, but with the c pawns off the board? I would start analyzing this line by looking at those other lines and seeing whether the c pawns are hindering white or black or both or neither. :-)

I did not like 31. Qd1. I prefer 31. Rd8+ and white wins the Queen and it should end up a Q+B vs R+B or Q vs R endgame.

That is cool that you guys saw that nice little combination I missed.   Thanks for the solid feedback.

Lol.  yes, that is the point of the gambit, to gain "time" against your opponent.
