Annotated loss #3

Hello again!

I've decided to annotate my losses so that I may receive feedback from the chess.com community so that I may improve my game. After the disappointing loss in my very first annotated loss game, I decided to learn a more active defense to 1.e4, the open game (also known as the double king pawn game). Naturally, I lost my way in the complications I entered, but this is how I am going to improve! This game, comparatively speaking, is very gross and low quality (and THAT is saying something!!!). Nonetheless, understanding the position will help deepen my chess understanding so that I can handle complications better. On to the game

Lethal moves, 16. ...f5 and 17. ...Ne5.

6...Bb6 is normal (the Benelux variation apparently?) instead of giving up the centre so quickly.

11. Re1 may have been better for white. Eyes e7 and threatens exd6 with effect, while 11. Re1 f6 12. Bxd7 Qxd7 13. exf6 looks good.

15...g5 and 16...f5 were probably near-fatal weakenings. With your queenside asleep, is it really good to embark on adventures? Finishing development should be a priority, in a roundabout way like ...Bc7-Nb6-Be6-Rc8 or something.

Your analysis of 19...Qxd6 seems odd, although the conclusion is right. In your line after 22. Bc4 Qxg5... did white just hang a knight? 22. Re8 looks stronger with the point 22...Qxg5? 23. Rxf8+ and the zwischenzug 22...Rxe8 23. Nf7+.

As for your resignation... 20. Qc3+ Qf6 21. Nxg5 Qxc3 22. bxc3 fxg3 23. hxg3 (threat was 23...gxf2+; the f-pawn is pinned!) Bf5 and it's not pretty but black's still kicking. A sac back for the d-pawn and black might salvage something, although white's still strongly attacking.
