I played a tactical shot in a game and i wonder if it was correct

I was wondering if g5 was a strong move does anybody know or think anything about it

The_Chess_Coach

by the way this game came from this opening that i belive is the from gambit

I think this is the best I can manage for white. Opening the h2-b8 diagonal, giving the Queen a strong square isn't as crippling if I can exchange pieces with tempo.

In your example 4. Qf2 is a blunder, but with your 4. ... Nf3 coming anyway the defense is going to break. 4. Qe2 is an interesting try though.

So overall, I think 1. g5 isn't a blunder, a material advantage already exists, it makes sense to push for exchanges.

yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!!!!! thanks for analyzing Jex_Roselin

The_Chess_Coach

can anyone find a way to refute this?

The_Chess_Coach

by the way the Jex_Roselin i don't think i would be completely winning if it went to an endgame, he has 2 passers

g5 is the best move depth 16( by a full 2,8 points) on stokfish, the moves aren't optimal as shown in the analysis but they are good enough. I know engines aren't always great, but this is the kind of position stokfish can analyse I'd think.
