Can a person below 300 elo make a brilliant? (Explained By AI)

🧠 Note: I used AI (ChatGPT) to help write and organize this post :) Please don't hate me >:( Hey everyone! I’ve been wondering about this — is it actually possible for a player rated below 300 to make a brilliant move? Turns out, yes! Even someone with a super low rating can pull off a brilliant move — at least according to chess analysis engines like the ones on Chess.com or Lichess. 💡 What Exactly Is a “Brilliant Move”? A brilliant move isn’t about who plays it — it’s about the move itself. Here’s what usually makes a move count as brilliant: It’s unexpected but strong, sometimes the only move that saves or wins the game. It might involve a clever sacrifice or deep tactic that’s tough for both humans and engines to find. Even a complete beginner can, by accident or intuition, play something like: Sacrificing a queen that leads to checkmate, Finding the only defensive move that saves the game, or Pulling off a tactical combo that the engine tags as “brilliant.” ♟️ How This Happens for Lower-Rated Players Sometimes beginners “blunder into brilliance.” They might make a risky move that just happens to work out perfectly — or, occasionally, they genuinely spot a hidden tactic like a discovered check or smothered mate. 🔥 Example Imagine a 250-rated player accidentally plays: > Qxh7+!! Kxh7 Rh1# That’s a checkmate combination an engine would mark as “brilliant,” even if the player didn’t fully calculate it! So yes — even a 300-rated player can make a brilliant move. It’s just extremely rare for it to be intentional!

You have the time you’re only 357. I got my first brilliant at 569, and it only was a bishop discovery check sacrifice to win the queen. I got at least 4 others brilliant moves with the same sacrifice. But when you improve it become more difficult to make a brilliant discovery check, hopefully you get some new strategic principles which help you to get other differents brilliant moves

I’ve played over 2000 games since joining in 2023. It’s three years on and my rating is a pathetic 325! I played at a mid 400 level for a few months. Everything was just clicking. I even made it to the low 500 level. Don’t know why but the past few months have been awful. I’m making blunders and mistakes too often. Any ideas for a guy who’s plays this much, loves the game but and sees little improvement.

The problem is you're playing a game, and roll dices too many times.

Try to think of chess like a martial art, a sport where discipline is a must, and the lack of it a killer.

At first you may feel a loss of fun. But if you keep it up until the right attention reflexes are integrated, you'll see the fun coming back.

The fun of chess, well, is mostly AFTER the game, not really during the game.

But meh, suit yourself with whatever ideas and philosophies, just don't expect results and efficiency out of a lazy bunch of made up thoughts.

Just saying.
