honestly, and i don't mean to make implications here, but there is a chance that you are getting ads based on the cookies you have on your computer, which are based on your browser history or spyware that hijacks ads. we haven't had any other complaints about these types of ads, and i can't find them in the known ad inventory.

as for why there are not more chess-related ads? i dunno. we sent out nearly 100 emails to different chess companies over the last month and had exactly 2 responses, neither of which has yet committed to advertise.

Huh. I guess it's just me then. As I said before, I don't know what would prompt it on my computer, but beyond that, I've been seeing these ads on library and school computers as well. They're ubiquitous regardless of what computer I use. Strange.

No, I get some of those ads too, which I really would prefer not to have all over the page, and also, what is up with all of these virtual world ads!?!?! I have seen five maybe 6 of them, and they all deliver the message of things such as "save the queen" and "create your own buisness" I would really rather see chess-related ads over virtual worlds and dating sites!

Yeah, I see those too!

guys admit it, if you say Chess.com isnt a friendly website then almost no websites are,

every website has people saying bad stuff and has bad ads and stuff, so we cant really argue that this isnt a friendly website when almost no websites are friendly,

i remember a game, Habbo i believe, was friendly.. well "swear" friendly until they updated it and made it so u can swear in it.. so back to my point alot of websites arent friendly,

there will always be people that say stuff to other people to start arguments whcih affects kids watching them

that is true, but are you saying that if every website is doing it, than chess.com should? People aren't lemmings, even if every other website in the world did it, than chess.com could still remain children-friendly. What would the world come to if every website included bad content toward children? If one person breaks the speed limit, should everyone?

My arguent isn't that the site isn't friendly, it's that the site isn't family-friendly. And yes, I also think that most sites aren't family-friendly. Chess.com isn't particularly bad, not really worse than most other sites, and mostly it's due to what people say, not the ads. This is common, though that doesn't make it family-friendly, and kids will get exposed to it anyway, but that should be controlled by parents at the proper time, part of which is controlling what movies, television programs, websites, etc. that the kids can see. So I think the site isn't family-friendly, but I don't really have a problem with that.

Hell, some families aren't family friendly.

And yet, families survive and flourish.

Still, people would like to cut down on the cost of therapy.  And then there's that problem of bad manners that our dearest RainbowRising is always highlighting.  Yes, double entendre.

I've heard there are nudist families in Sweden.  I don't know about the accuracy of this.

I wouldn't recommend Habbo Hotel to anybody anymore. It's pretty much constantly raided by Anonymous or the Patriotic Nigras or /b/tards or whoever. If you're looking for "family friendly," this is pretty much the worst place you could possibly go.

well on a related theme should a minor be allowed to hold and move the Bishop while playing chess????  please think about that t/y.......

TheGrobe

Miners shouldn't be allowed to play in the first place.

The lights on their helmets are an unfair distraction.

I can't remember having read anything more offensive than this on this site.

I guess some ads slip through sometimes. Besides, upgrading will remove ALL of those pictures that haunt your dreams/nightmares.
