Computer says no

Hey folken,

So I had a query about the analysis of this game. It's my move and I have a knight on d5 under attack from Black's queen. Because I am playing at a level where both sides make blunders aplenty, I decide to throw my queen up to h5 to deliver a quick check before moving her back down to f3 to protect my knight.

I know that he will just move to g6 but my thinking is that there is a chance my opponent will then grab my d5 knight before thinking too hard and land me his queen and essentially the game.

As you can see from the analysis though the computer not only questions my move but declares it a blunder and instead suggests that I sacrifice my g5 knight. This is where I am confused - sure I can see why moving my queen up to h5 is a bit of a waste of time, but how is sacrificing my knight a good move? Ooh never mind I just saw it lol. It means I win his queen if he goes to take the knight on e6. Ok well I am going to post this anyway since I have taken all the time to write this out.

And in fact I have another unrelated question: How to I embed pictures from the games into posts? I tried copying links using the "Insert chess game or diagram" button but none of the links seemed to do anything and when I tried to set up the board myself none of the pieces would move. In the end I just took a screenshot.

Peace

Open the link you have. https://www.chess.com/analysis/game/live/5875856707?tab=report Click download. On the PGN click the button that says "annotation" so the computer stuff isn't still in the PGN. Either that or start from this link instead. https://www.chess.com/live/game/5875856707 This is basically the previous link without analysis or tab=report, etc. Here you'd just click share, then PGN. It's the same from here either way. Copy the PGN if you want to post the entire game. Now you can make a post. Click "insert chess game or diagram" and "load from PGN", pasting the PGN. You can hit "insert" and the game is posted. You can insert comments by right clicking the notation of a move and hitting "comment after" or variations by making the move you want to try in the board state.

For a specific position on the board, we do something similar. Open the link you have. https://www.chess.com/analysis/game/live/5875856707?tab=report Get to the board position in the game you want, by making moves, clicking the spot, etc. Click download. Either that or start from this link instead. https://www.chess.com/live/game/5875856707 This is basically the previous link without analysis or tab=report, etc. Get to the board position in the game you want, by making moves, clicking the spot, etc. Now click share, then PGN. It's the same from here either way. Instead of copying the PGN though, you copy the FEN, hit "insert game or diagram" followed by "load from FEN", pasting the FEN you copied and hitting load. Do whatever extra steps you want, such as making moves/comments as I mentioned above, then hit "insert".

If you don't like cluttering things up, you could post multiple when there are several variations, with each viewing one of them. Either way, that's a way to post these things.
