End game... beginner analysis

Hi, I haven't been playing seriously for very long and I'd like to ask for some help analysing the following endgame... I won in the end, though I have a feeling I got lucky.

I made some anotations, don't know if they're in there ok though... I do realize I've wasted a lot of material when I didn't have to, was kicking myself more than once during that game... still, any feedback will be greatly appreciated..

Cheers

Ok, the ending..... White was winning before move 30.

Move 43, White is totally winning and plays 43 a3?? It's a terrible blunder, from +1 to -1. What was he thinking?

49 ... Qg1 is quicker.

There is a mating pattern you must learn, it cost you nothing in this game, but sometimes you don't get free moves.

55 .... Qd1#

Lots of mistakes in the middle game.

As for the endgame...

41 ... Kg7? There's no reson not to just take that pawn. Losing unnecessary material here.

43 a3 is definetely the move that cost your opponent the game. He was winning before that move and would have won with a little more conservative play.
