Finding the best idea.

So I played a normal 15 minute match and the position got kinda complex looking in the middlegame which made me use alot of time, I lost due to time pressure but I think I could have converted if I played the position's best idea.

I was playing Black

Your play was very nice up through at least the first 12 moves.

I believe you missed a very good move by not noticing that White's KN was trapped: 17...Bf3. What can White do then? 18. g3 Bxh4 19. gxh4 and White's kingside pawn structure is shattered and his king exposed. That knight was still hanging 11 moves later and would have fallen to 28...Qg3.

Another tactical shot to have considered, though possibly only about equal, was 23...Bxf2+ 24. Rxf2 Nd3 with a knight fork of White's two rooks. That d3-square would've made a good knight outpost via 25...Nd3, too.

A minor point is that I believe I would have developed my queen earlier, via 12...Qc7, instead of 12...Rb8, which had limited value. 13...Ne4 moves the same piece twice before you're completely developed, especially your queen.

Once you let White's queen invade after 30. c7, you were in trouble.

14...Ndxc5 wins a free pawn for you and black is obviously better.
