Game accuracy

I've been generally playing less, using my time to read around basic strategy. I am typically 700-750 and having had a week of playing again, a couple of games a day, the quoted ELO seems about right (win one or two then lose). I've been watching my accuracy whilst reviewing games and note that bad games seem to be around 55-60% accuracy with better games typically 70-85% which I assume is relative to my current level.

I bought my first book on openings and read around one that I roughly knew at a basic, initial starting base. First game last night and my opponent, rated similarly, played out a straight 9 move book opening to my delight and after I blundered by losing my lady I managed to hold out to a reasonable end game but ultimately lost. My accuracy across the 32 move game was 75% but he managed 91%! I recall one game where I got a similar rating but my question is this: presuming that accuracy is relative to ability, what is typical of a player at around say, 700 ELO through to 1000? Is there a general point where this becomes a metric of progression? Interested to hear any thoughts.
