Yes. It's always admirable to beat people rated several hundred points below you.
A game of Fischer's

Actually he and I are buddies. He was just posting the game because some positions looked cool. Also, my rating is higher than his in the USCF, I just don't spend a whole lot of time on my moves in online and rarely ever play live.
So don't dog on him, please.

He and I made some mistakes, but we're not the greatest chess players are we?
The opening position looks good eh?
Any suggestion in the opening?
That is okay but probably the best is to play like this:

I thought bjazz was talking about the 600 rating point difference in the Fischer game
I don't think Fischer was 2780 in... 1960.

but then the castling...the pawn structure might hurt me...and If I castle on the queen side the queen's there pressuring me
I do think white's fine. My only two moves are Nd5 or h6.
Though I have to say, I'd rather play 5... Bg4 than Bf5. Not sure how that compares, though.

I have a problem with the ratings posted on this game. I don't believe Fischer was 2780 in 1960, and Letelier was an IM at the time and I think his rating would be a bit higher than 2151. Anybody out there who has access to the actual ratings at the time this game was played?

According to chesselo.com, FIDE did not adopt the Elo system until 1970 (the USCF did in 1960). My guess is that the ratings shown are probably their last published ratings.

Read this article on Bobby Fischer.

At the end of 1960 (He is 17!) itlists Fischer's USCF rating at 2641. So although he wasn't 2780 yet, he still was very strong. I don't know what his opponents rating was maybe it was higher in 1960, but Fischer was at least a few hundred rating points higher. So my apologies to trysts.

yes Bf5 may not be the best...
*Wishing I didn't play Qd7*
