White sacrificed everypiece just to gain a positional lead.. And that's the reward :)

TheOldReb

A comedy of errors !

blesswell

An elementary blunder by black!!

Not a single sacrifice improved his position... he won because black blundered multiple times as well.

Hahaha! What a fun game. Black was like: "B-but...how...what?..." Very nice sacrifices. I don't even know if the ending was what White had been anticipating, but it sure was a surprise! Shows that you should never let your King be drawn out too far.

These sacrifices require some analysis. For example: 29.Rc6 if Black had brought either of his Rooks into play right then, White would have been slaughtered. This pawn sacrifice was kind of speculative, IMO, and might have easily led to something less than a wwin.

I don't understand why you thought you could attack when you had no advantage in space, quality, or quantity.

Also, after 22... Bxe3?? isn't 23. Bxg6 mate?

white had no intention for this result--this was a windfall.  black should be embarrassed by this game not white being proud.  white didn't win this match, black LOST it.  this is not a lesson in never giving up although there are times when a player with the obvious advantage makes huge mistakes, this is a terrible blunder more than anything.

We don't see many games showcased here that don't contain gross blunders, but people just can't help saying "look at me!"

johnny263

ilikeflags, you're right.  this is clearly not a lesson in never giving up because black blundered their way to a loss.  the more obvious lesson would be always give up when you think you've lost a game because a victory isn't actually a victory if the loser makes a mistake.

why would the poster say "never give up" unless they realized that white was in a clearly lost position, didn't give up, and then won the game?  you might have a point if the post was titled "look at my vision and how i won this game through chess mastery" but it wasn't

Terrible openings by white; not solid sacrifice. Very lucky!

So what. At a certain level, people are going to play badly. The winning player was rated 1275 and his opponent was 1438.

At a certain ratings level, and I'd put myself in this category, you come to the grips that you're not going to play perfect chess. You're going to make mistakes, blunders and inaccuracies.

You don't have to be so condescending about it.

Bad play by both. Whoop-de-do.

I for one say congratulations on the win.

Way to pull it out.

22. Rd4, if he takes the rook, Bxg3#, if he doesn't, you're still threating a nasty check and he can't attack your king as strongly.

24. Rf2 blocking the queen, Sure he has the tactical advantage of Bishop check (to make you lose your rook, but it actually also leads to that quick g4 checkmate.
