And I can't believe that you still think it's a virus. What AV software do you have that's flagging that file?

Did you realize that the link the OP posted is the exact, official Chess.com link that you get if you go to the OP's game in his game archive and click on the "Get PGN" link?

Also, before downloading, I checked the link with the Zulu URL Risk Analyzer (checked out clean). After I downloaded the file, and before opening, I uploaded the file to VirusTotal (checked out clean - 0/49 detection rate).

It's simply the official Chess.com PGN file of that game, and nothing else.

At this point, I'm more concerned about your PC system - If it thinks that file is a virus, you might have some malware on your system that needs to be investigated.

Dude, PGn files can't be viruses. You know that, I know that, he knows that. He's just trolling.

I checked with AVG

I checked with AVG

AVG is one of the 49 AV programs used by VirusTotal, and the AVG program used by VirusTotal said the file was clean.

Here's the VirusTotal report for that pgn file:

https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/aa0c4f676ff1d37ace2422ea48bc32f42c768517a92aa18c683f1bc117c94008/analysis/1387127099/

If I were in your shoes, I'd start checking my system with some malware detection/removal programs to see if your system has been compromised. Your AVG program seems to be acting a little too strange.

I didn't know if there was any sinister way of disguising an exe as a text file, so I wasn't taking any chances. I didn't think he was trolling, but I could be wrong about that.

I tested the file again with Norton => it is safe.I guess I won't be using AVG anymore

EscherehcsE

Actually, AVG is one of the better free antivirus programs. I wouldn't automatically throw the baby out with the bathwater.

JoshuaHah

Its not a virus stupid he juz doesnt know how to paste the pgn in the board.

Ubik42

So, anyone who downloaded that has the virus?

EscherehcsE

Not me. I got a flu shot a couple of weeks ago, so I think I'm protected.
